Gardening is never really over......

Here is some limbs down to due to the high winds we had over the weekend.
Prayers go out to those out east where the tornados hit.

                                                          Now on to the garden!
I am planning on extending the garden up.....so I can have more beds and of course more blackberry plants.
this is the spot before work
This is the spot that some of the blackberries will have to be moved since Hubby and neighbor talked about putting a gate here....so hence the blackberries will be moved come spring.....I told hubby that their pretty much is a gate of sorts here....just remove the one post and take down barbed wire....their is already a panel there....round here the could be a gate....I have counted about 8 plants need to be moved.....the joys of transplanting.....
This is some things I have done around the garden.
I moved the rocks on the side and put up some landscape timbers
that were in my chicken house that I am in the process of tearing down, planning on building another one in the future.
more landscape timber put here....I think it looks better to extent
some of the rocks went round the old wheel barrel

I just think this mum is still beautiful with the cold/frost hitting it
work being done one the new place for more beds and of course the blackberries that will be transplanted next spring.
Well enough for now, gonna go and enjoy the day while the wind isn`t blowing

been busy....

Have been busy around here lately, volleyball games ...season is about over, ..one more game....the local fair...games...garden work....among just everyday things....

                                                                Volleyball
The oldest daughter has one more game of Volleyball....I was upset along with her at one game...she didn`t get to play at all , and it was away game...the last game she got to play and their was a c-set and she scored about 5 points for the team on both games...thru her serving the ball...very proud of her...on that game the JV won and the varsity won as well...they almost had the C-set won as well.

                                                                Local Fair
yes, our county does have a fair. It wasn`t gonna happen until a few people got together and made it happen. My oldest won the queen contest...I thought she looked good  up on the stage...I know she was the only contestant in that category...but so happy she won.....so needless to say that was last weekend....We enjoyed the fair to a point....they needed more animals and their was no rides this year, in which I think hurt the fair...Friday night was cold and rainy and the big day was the demo derby in which was cold as well.
A few complaints ....they need something to bring the people in during the day on Saturday so people can enjoy the fair and the local shop....I did not see a whole of people buying anything...not that many vendors.....their was an antique tractors displayed...
                                                  this poor guy never moved....lol

A petting zoo was there , we didn`t go in at all, just to pet them was 2.00 a person and most of the animals we have....so didn`t see a need to go and pay just to pet these animals...
I did want to grab the wee little pig and carry it around inside my coat though...the oldest daughter wanted to do this as well...it just looked so cold running around the pen...........
a min horse to pet and ride ....rides were 2.00 extra if u want to ride...

Hopping it up is over the youngest daughter...her team won one game over all and almost won the last game....
                                                                    on to the garden...
I plant all of these bulbs yesterday ...before the freeze we had last night...tulip and Easter Lillie bulbs I had dug up in the garden....the new roses I planted was mulched a few days ago as well...all of the cannas were dug up and put away for the winter...
When I was mulching the roses the other day I had help...the wee little kitten buttercup was helping me ...I would go to the mulch pile and get a bucket full and then take it to the garden and buttercup was in tow along with Trixie the mighty Chihuahua and Bandit the crazy heeler....When I was mulch the grapes for the winter Buttercup tried to jump and settle on the mums in the above picture that is why the they are broke down in the middle...it was nice and round before that....
My youngest also had a birthday, cant believe she is 12 already. We took cupcakes to her school on her Birthday hope fully we will be able to celebrate her birthday this weekend ,since hubby is off the whole weekend , which don't happen very often....

Well just thought I would catch up some since I haven`t post in a couple of weeks...hopefully things will slow down a bit....everyone have a blessed day and weekend!

another no title really....

I finally got the quilt block for September done....The dog is done in felt as well as the stems on the pumpkins. The sunflowers are ribbon and the vine/flowers going up the mailbox post is as well.
On the pattern piece of this block is the song lyrics of O COME all ye faithful...I so like this song ,have not heard it in awhile. This Block is Called Barnyard Adoration

This is the start of the October quilt Block...Pumpkins and owls with full moon looking on....This block is called.....The Three Wise Guys. It has a bible scripture  " But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy." James 3:17.
The pumpkin stems and vine and owls beaks are felt.

A rainbow in between the showers we had yesterday

Cricket getting ready to go outside

I have dug up these cannas, the wasn`t doing very good , so decided to dig them up where they was planted so I can replant the irises that I dug up...all the irises are planted . yay! now to work on the other bulbs I dug up as well, tulips and daffodils...was gonna work on them today, but the showers we got yesterday kinda made the garden alittle muddy , so I cleaned out the main chicken pen. and put in the garden, 5 buckets full.
.

This picture of Bandit , our heeler...wonderful varmint dog was hard to get....he thinks he has to be right with ya all the time....even if you are trying to get a picture...he is a very active dog....

And here is Trixie, she is camera shy, hard to get a good picture of her as well.
Not really anything going on around here.....I have had a hen hatch out 5 babies....she wanted to set so I put eggs under her and she is being a good mamma to them so far....her mamma wasn't a good mamma this year....I do have another one thinking she ought to set, I just don`t want her setting at this time of the year, crazy chicken....this would be her third time this year setting.

On another note trying to figure out the affordable care act...We have called several people in the know....and they couldn`t tell us nothing as to all much the insurance is going to cost us...yes, my hubby and I do not have insurance.....we can not afford it...I am sure we are not the only ones that can`t afford it. We don`t even have a cell phone, used to have one , but not now. We just cant afford one right now....that is enough about this right now...until I apply for the insurance.

On other note my mom finally came to a game,....and the oldest got to play a c set....they lost though.
she played this week and they won their game varsity did as well...well I am going to get off of here.

amending the soil....muscovies.....

How to I amend the soil here in my garden......
I add the rabbit manure after I clean out from under the rabbit cage, or course I do add chicken manure to the beds as well...when I clean out the chicken pen....This is one of things I do...
sometimes I leave the rabbit cage off the pieces of wood I have them on ...so that the chickens and ducks can get all those yummy bugs.....

another thing I do is add garden wastes at the end of the growing season...old tomato plants, bean plants what have you...they mainly go into to my compost beds for now.....I also add coffee grounds with the coffee filters and egg shells from the kitchen as well as banana peels, and other goodies from the kitchen , nothing with any grease or rather fat on it...no meat or bones...My chickens for the most part free range and of course they do get into the garden and scratch it a bit as well.

Here is a few pictures of my mums that was planted last year in the garden, thought you might enjoy them.

I turned Sparkles and her three babies, yet to be named..I thought I had lost one, but then found it wandering around by itself...I have since gave it back to her....the babies are about a week and half old right now.....George the Buff rooster just had to get into the picture....lol

Mascara hatched out 9 babies this past weekend...this is her second bunch this year....Now all I left now setting for the year is Lavender...

Another busy week of practice and games this week....

sad to say............

Sad to see the end of the gardening season, at least the produce anyway. Now it`s time for cleaning out beds and getting them ready for next year...at least some flowers....

some of Irises have been moved here, not very rich dirt, but hopefully they will do good here.....still have more irises to plant....

I know you can`t tell it but I planted a rose of Sharon bush here, It is in the middle of the bed above, of irises.

a flat rock border I did to this bed....I picked them up at the creek, where I get all my flat rocks...ok mostly where I get them.....their is plenty of rocks here , but they are not very flat, lol

All of the garden has started to dry up except for these cannas....the bottom pic is the first bloom for these....like I said before these will not be planted here next year...will be planting some irises were they are at.

new babies, in which I am not sad about....I just love the baby ducklings....

                                                       these three are Sparkles

now all is left to hatch out is Aflac, Mascara, and Lavender.

Oldest lost her game last night to Hurley, sadly she didn`t get to play in the game.
Everyone remember what today is 9/11 I will not forget......my prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones today.....

updates of the garden,other things...

First off gardening....

Hubby is tired of these irises being in the main yard, he mowed them down, ....weeds were in them badly, so they are being moved, can you guess where?

The irises will be moved to this long bed, at least I hope they will all fit here, if not they will put around the garden area.....
It has been rough digging in this dirt with all the rocks,...and yes I am picking them out at least the big ones....we so need rain badly . it has been hard digging in the heat....summer has come back with a vengeance here in the Ozarks...I have been digging in the morning and evening some when the oldest doesn`t have practice anyway...

I have pulled up the green beans that were planted here as well as the tomato plants,...like I said we need rain....the ramps that were over t his bed  has been sold at a swap meet, hubby didn`t think he needed them anymore , since he has a trailer....I will have to figure out something to put over this bed in the spring....still some time away....this bed will stay a vegetable bed of sorts, I am thinking.
This is the only beans I have left in the garden, still blooming and need picking as well, but I have enough beans in the freezer for the time being, might pick them and give to the chickens.

A look at one of the bed, just with a couple of tomato plants that don`t look that great

the cucumbers have not been very productive this year.
Just a glance of a pretty rose

Watermelon and marigolds,...they are still blooming
                                                                now on to the birds....

My new chickens I picked up during that swap meet, I know I had to trade my two old English game hens for these two....I hate to see the two little hens go,...but I didn`t have a roo for them and I wanted to increase my cochins this year....love my cochins, this barred roo hopefully will produce me some buff barred babies next spring, have not named him yet.....don`t know as of yet who I am putting the little white hen with , have named her white rose....maybe I can find a white roo for her between now and spring.
                                                 Now some Muscovy.....
                                                 shay/tiny...tiny was her original name
                                           Dawson with momma Elizabeth

                                               Boss just hanging out....
ok, Lillie is this one`s name....
not a very good picture of little mary, but a picture none the less.....

Now on to the soap box of sorts.....
My oldest is playing volleyball this year for the first time...yes she is a junior, but do not realize that she like volleyball until last year. My problem is her not getting to play...what ever happened to the pure love of a sport game you are playing....I know we have not had a game as of yet, the first one is tonight....of course she is not playing the other girls that played on the team last year plus two extras which is their first year playing as well and they are freshmen. you would think since my daughter is a junior she would have a little more seniority then these other two girls, I guess not......One of these girls did not play in elementary school either, I guess the coaches think they are better players....
Hopefully she will get to play some in the other two games she has this week....but as a new player on the team ....probably not...we will see....just my two cents worth...high school sports seems like it just for winning anymore, not for just playing and having fun like in elementary.

I am gonna go work on my quilt for now....everyone have a enjoyable day!
