my mom...

I love my mom don`t get me wrong, but here lately I have been having some problems. She has always been there for me and the girls . She has gone to their games whether they was playing on cheering at the games unless weather was gonna be bad, like snow, or ice in which I understand ..She was with me at each one of their births, with me when the youngest had her nose bleed( 1 hour 1/2) at the hospital...she has been there when the youngest had a few of her treatments in St Louis, she just has always been there...She would let the girls spend the night at her house , so hubby and me could a date night. or just to spend time with the girls, one on one time with them .

She met someone last year, in which I am glad she has met someone to go do things with, dad has been gone since 1992. My problem.....She doesn`t let the girls spend the night anymore. I have asked her and she flat out says no to them spending the night....she has not been to any of the oldest volleyball games. Last year , she only went to one of the youngest basketball games, in which was one that was an good hour away. She is just not involved in their lives anymore....Am I wrong in thinking that she should be?
The oldest asked her when she knew that she would be selling knives for her class and she stated that she would buy them,...then when it come down to it, she acted like she really didn`t want to buy them....she did though.
A few weeks ago , I mentioned that she should go to at least one of the oldest volleyball games in front of her new fella and he said it was a great idea.....then My oldest wanted me to call and remind her of the game and she stated she wasn`t going unless her fella went, in which I understand to a point...this is your granddaughter , who would love for you to come to her game and watch her play, regardless if he is there or not....I know we need to accept him, in which we do , but doesn`t that go both ways....
I have spoken about this with my youngest of my two brothers and his wife, who I loved dearly. They seem to think that mom is doing right by the girls and just living her life. I should go and visit them....she is never home anymore and always over their at his house and the last time I went there, I felt as if I wasn`t welcome there....I tried talked to her about it and she just gets upset everytime I bring it up.
I just don`t know what to do about it anymore...At grandparents day at the youngest school , I was shocked to see her there I really didn`t think she would show up.....Of course she showed up with out him...but if they are together now ...wouldn`t you think he would be there as well.....

I miss my mom and just needed a place to vent about it other then facebook

amending the soil....muscovies.....

How to I amend the soil here in my garden......
I add the rabbit manure after I clean out from under the rabbit cage, or course I do add chicken manure to the beds as well...when I clean out the chicken pen....This is one of things I do...
sometimes I leave the rabbit cage off the pieces of wood I have them on ...so that the chickens and ducks can get all those yummy bugs.....

another thing I do is add garden wastes at the end of the growing season...old tomato plants, bean plants what have you...they mainly go into to my compost beds for now.....I also add coffee grounds with the coffee filters and egg shells from the kitchen as well as banana peels, and other goodies from the kitchen , nothing with any grease or rather fat on it...no meat or bones...My chickens for the most part free range and of course they do get into the garden and scratch it a bit as well.

Here is a few pictures of my mums that was planted last year in the garden, thought you might enjoy them.

I turned Sparkles and her three babies, yet to be named..I thought I had lost one, but then found it wandering around by itself...I have since gave it back to her....the babies are about a week and half old right now.....George the Buff rooster just had to get into the picture....lol

Mascara hatched out 9 babies this past weekend...this is her second bunch this year....Now all I left now setting for the year is Lavender...

Another busy week of practice and games this week....

PBR, Another loss, Cochins....

Just a few pictures from the PBR when we went last Friday night....sorry so blurry , my oldest took them with her Ipod, since I forgot my camera.....we had a fun night out to the PBR....Thanks to the American Cancer society for getting us tickets.....

My oldest played away game and won one set , then lost the two sets.....she had fun though, so that is all that counts and she got to play and had her hand on the ball a few times as well....One hit went into the crowd and she later said that embarrassed her that it went to the crowd, I told her it happens to everybody....

Saturday starts Hooping it up for the youngest...her love of basketball....Her regular season starts in January.

Just a pic of Elizabeth with Shay and Dawson enjoying this nice weather

                                                               from the garden, piƱata rose

now on to the cochins chickens

out of Bert and his ladies

                                                            Bluebeard, a blue frizzle roo

the blue one I bought this year, not good feather on feet

Belle, one of the chicks that I got with the blue hen...a hen, yay
I might put her in with Gizmo next year, not for sure yet or with Bert

sad to say this one is looking like a roo, was so hoping for a hen to put with attitude to start a blue laced red cochin project

                                               Spike, another frizzled roo

This one has some unique coloring on him, really don't know what color he is considered on what color hen would be best to put him with....

Here is an updated pic of the black one I picked up this spring as well....another roo....
Well we don't have practice today....the coach is giving the JV girls a day off, so When I go and pick up the girls from school , I might bring Cricket along....she loves to go to school with me...some might asked how I know that she wants to go ....she jumps up and she will go jump in the car when the door is open of course....she hasn`t been to school this year yet....some of the other kids have been asking about her...
Well I think that is enough for now...everyone have a wonderfull day and rest of the week.

sad to say............

Sad to see the end of the gardening season, at least the produce anyway. Now it`s time for cleaning out beds and getting them ready for next year...at least some flowers....

some of Irises have been moved here, not very rich dirt, but hopefully they will do good here.....still have more irises to plant....

I know you can`t tell it but I planted a rose of Sharon bush here, It is in the middle of the bed above, of irises.

a flat rock border I did to this bed....I picked them up at the creek, where I get all my flat rocks...ok mostly where I get them.....their is plenty of rocks here , but they are not very flat, lol

All of the garden has started to dry up except for these cannas....the bottom pic is the first bloom for these....like I said before these will not be planted here next year...will be planting some irises were they are at.

new babies, in which I am not sad about....I just love the baby ducklings....

                                                       these three are Sparkles

now all is left to hatch out is Aflac, Mascara, and Lavender.

Oldest lost her game last night to Hurley, sadly she didn`t get to play in the game.
Everyone remember what today is 9/11 I will not forget......my prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones today.....

Well last week, the oldest had two volleyball games ( JV) . The one on Thursday was a home game, , Jv ( her team) won both sets,  .....Varsity lost both sets....sorry I didn`t get the scores...this was the first home game.
Friday, was to me the first away game, JV won both sets, and varsity lost both sets

.I am learning alittle bout volleyball ...so bare with me.....Each set goes to 25 points, whatever team gets to 25 first wins that set.....

She has one volleyball game this week and one game to work concessions....of course practice as well this week....busy

updates of the garden,other things...

First off gardening....

Hubby is tired of these irises being in the main yard, he mowed them down, ....weeds were in them badly, so they are being moved, can you guess where?

The irises will be moved to this long bed, at least I hope they will all fit here, if not they will put around the garden area.....
It has been rough digging in this dirt with all the rocks,...and yes I am picking them out at least the big ones....we so need rain badly . it has been hard digging in the heat....summer has come back with a vengeance here in the Ozarks...I have been digging in the morning and evening some when the oldest doesn`t have practice anyway...

I have pulled up the green beans that were planted here as well as the tomato plants,...like I said we need rain....the ramps that were over t his bed  has been sold at a swap meet, hubby didn`t think he needed them anymore , since he has a trailer....I will have to figure out something to put over this bed in the spring....still some time away....this bed will stay a vegetable bed of sorts, I am thinking.
This is the only beans I have left in the garden, still blooming and need picking as well, but I have enough beans in the freezer for the time being, might pick them and give to the chickens.

A look at one of the bed, just with a couple of tomato plants that don`t look that great

the cucumbers have not been very productive this year.
Just a glance of a pretty rose

Watermelon and marigolds,...they are still blooming
                                                                now on to the birds....

My new chickens I picked up during that swap meet, I know I had to trade my two old English game hens for these two....I hate to see the two little hens go,...but I didn`t have a roo for them and I wanted to increase my cochins this year....love my cochins, this barred roo hopefully will produce me some buff barred babies next spring, have not named him yet.....don`t know as of yet who I am putting the little white hen with , have named her white rose....maybe I can find a white roo for her between now and spring.
                                                 Now some Muscovy.....
                                                 shay/tiny...tiny was her original name
                                           Dawson with momma Elizabeth

                                               Boss just hanging out....
ok, Lillie is this one`s name....
not a very good picture of little mary, but a picture none the less.....

Now on to the soap box of sorts.....
My oldest is playing volleyball this year for the first time...yes she is a junior, but do not realize that she like volleyball until last year. My problem is her not getting to play...what ever happened to the pure love of a sport game you are playing....I know we have not had a game as of yet, the first one is tonight....of course she is not playing the other girls that played on the team last year plus two extras which is their first year playing as well and they are freshmen. you would think since my daughter is a junior she would have a little more seniority then these other two girls, I guess not......One of these girls did not play in elementary school either, I guess the coaches think they are better players....
Hopefully she will get to play some in the other two games she has this week....but as a new player on the team ....probably not...we will see....just my two cents worth...high school sports seems like it just for winning anymore, not for just playing and having fun like in elementary.

I am gonna go work on my quilt for now....everyone have a enjoyable day!
